A group of animal lovers dedicated to promote retention, help, and education.
To help keep pets in good homes with people who love them, we established a pet food bank and emergency veterinary fund. We project distributing approximately 50,000 pounds of pet food this year. We provide dog and cat food for UCHRA Meals on Wheels recipients, the Pet Food Pantry and the commodities recipients. We also assist people who participate in the First Baptist Church Fishes and Loaves monthly service, a home health care network, homeless camps, people who foster cats waiting for their forever home, and people who contact us and/or are referred to us.We take dog food and treats to the White County Animal Shelter for the residents. Our emergency vet fund helps people who cannot afford unexpected expenses.
We have purchased and donated pet resuscitation masks for emergency vehicles to save the lives of pets, and partner with Sparta Veterinary Services to provide “Rescue Me” decals to alert emergency personnel that pets are inside. We proudly contributed to the White County Sheriff canine vehicle and enthusiastically support plans and mission for their canine program.
We provide a “Kindness to Animals” curriculum structured by grade levels 1-6 and a bi-monthly publication (“Kind News”) which is used in after school programs in elementary, middle school and a home school network. The Special Education class at White County High School repackages dog food and Boy Scout Troop 128 repackages cat food, which provides the opportunity to connect education about Kindness to Animals with actions that help animals.
We support White County Humane Society’s spay and neuter mission by providing contact information at all pet food distributions, talking with recipients about pet overpopulation, and the importance of spaying and neutering. We also partner to sponsor the Humane Society’s annual chili dinner to raise funds for spay and neuter. We provide treats for businesses with drive through windows as a fun way to advocate for animals and participate in events including Liberty Square, Upper Cumberland Pet Expo, and Northfield Vineyards Markets to raise awareness about the need to help animals.
We are a small group of dedicated volunteers committed to helping animals and the people who love them. Our mission includes pet retention and wellness; education; and advocating for animal welfare.
