From Oscars family:
Oscar, The Dog We Didn’t Want On a January day in 2014 a dog wandered in our yard. He was an adult dachsund mix dog. We figured someone had let him out for a bathroom break and he was lost. We tried every way we could think of to locate this dog’s owners because we did not need another dog. Classified ads were ran in the “Lost & Found” section of two local newspapers and he was posted on social media sites. We notified our local shelter too. We had no luck finding this dog’s owners. The next week it turned very cold and the dog had to come inside the house to survive. Soon he was sitting in our laps, giving kisses and begging for table scraps. Some where in between trying to find this dog’s home and keeping him safe, we fell in love. Oscar, had us wrapped around his paw. We could not eat a meal in peace without him begging for a bite or watch “Family Feud” on TV because he always thought the bells and chimes from the game show was someone ringing the doorbell. He thought he had to go with us to the convenient center every weekend to help take the garbage off, defend us from the UPS delivery man or chase us on the ATV when we went for a ride. Life is a lot quieter without Oscar but we now have a hole in our heart as big as the holes he used to dig in the backyard trying to get a mole. We love you Oscar.

To Julie & John Holtzclaw - In memory of their beloved horse, Dark Sky. From: Sharon Langford.1/11/2021 Opal Joyce, "OJ", as affectionately called by her friends and family passed away peacefully on December 21, 2020. She ran across that beautiful rainbow bridge to the open arms of her Papa. She was loved by all who knew her. She loved her family, riding in the car to pick up her brother at school, traveling with her mom and dad and sometimes her brother and his friends to the beaches in Florida. She loved the sun and laying in her comfy bed anywhere close to her mom. Her last days were spent snuggling with her mom, Daddy, brother and Nana. She will be missed but we know that this is not a goodbye but rather a see you later. Give your Papa lots of kisses baby J..we love you!❤
From Sheila:
Otis loved the Holidays, his family, gatherings at his house and table scraps. Otis hated taking baths but felt so good after they were over and loved his bandannas which he would always make sure you put back on after his bath. Otis' favorite toy was a green nerf ball, although he had a toy box full, that was the only thing he would play with. Otis was sensitive, sweet and sometimes nervous. We loved him with all of our heart and miss him dearly. We are so great full of the time we had with him 8 years it just wasn’t long enough. There will never be another one like him and we will always cherish our memories of our precious boy! My parents raised Tennessee Walking Horses and I have ridden since I was a toddler but for many years did not have a horse of my own. In 1991, when we lived on Signal Mountain, my parents presented me with one of their mares, Charm, and she was my first trail horse. Our daughter, Lauren, and I enjoyed the rides and caring for her. Charm lived with a member of my family from the day she was born. We covered many miles of trails, had a few mishaps but always the best of companions. She was truly a treasured member of our family until we had to bid her "Happy Trails" in 2015 at the age of 32 years and 6 months. - Rachel
Shepherd, our 12 years old Golden Retriever, was a "gift" from our son who moved to south Florida and could not take Shep with them. It was a blessed inheritance of sorts. This precious member of our family gave us so much pleasure from the time he came to live with us at the age of 2 until he crossed the "Rainbow Bridge." He was a friend, companion, settler of other animal companion disagreements with big, soulful eyes that will always be fondly and lovingly remembered. - Rachel |
